LIANE GROTH HULKA

Principal & Co-founder

Liane is a lifelong, seventh-generation Hoosier with roots tracing back to Tipton, Rush, and St. Joe counties. She is regularly sought for political advice and takes pride in her extensive, statewide relationships in the political and civic sector built over years of experience. She served in the last-elected Democratic Governor’s administration as an O'Bannon Fellow in 2001 after graduating Phi Beta Kappa from IU with a degree in history & political science. At IU's Maurer School of Law, Liane explored the intersection between law & policy by leading the American Constitution Society's IU Student Chapter.

Liane started her career as a litigation associate for a large law firm in Indianapolis and later worked in the Indiana General Assembly as Assistant Majority Counsel for the Indiana House Democrats from 2007-08. In 2008, she took a hiatus from practicing law to manage a successful IN State House campaign in a highly competitive district.

In 2017, Liane co-founded Hoosier Women Forward, Inc., a political and civic leadership program designed to prepare Democratic women for leadership in public service. She is also current Board Chair for the Washington Township schools' Foundation and is passionate about public education. Liane just completed her four-year term as the Fifth District Congressional Chair for the Indiana Democratic Party where she helped to build Party infrastructure and involvement and celebrated historic local election wins in both Boone & Hamilton counties. Liane has been a political commentator for both Fox-59 and WISH-TV.

Most recently, Liane co-founded the nonprofit Vote Safe Indiana, advocating for greater enfranchisement among voting Hoosiers during the COVID-19 crisis. There, she was able to spearhead, collaborate and implement Indy Vote Times, a website designed to allow voters to know the wait times at voting locations to better plan their vote.

Liane is a Chapter 13 bankruptcy attorney for Trustee Ann DeLaney in Indianapolis. She lives with her husband, three boys, and a giant, dog-like cat.
